Insch & District Football Club (or I.D.F.C) operate from the Playing fields of Insch and run football coaching sessions and teams for children from the local area.
The club, whose membership is currently around 65 children, was founded in August 2001 when the then club committee opted to rename “Insch Boys Club” as “Insch & District Football Club” to better represent the club members of the time who were both boys and girls, and came from local areas other than Insch.
Currently the club run three sections – Under 13’s (for children in P7 and S1), Under 11’s (for children in P5 and P6) and Under 9’s (for children in P2, P3 and P4). The club participate in the Aberdeen & District Juvenile Football League.
Under the former title “Insch Boys Club”, the club won the Central Grampian Under 13’s B League in season 1999/2000, and have not until this season ventured as far as this up the Juvenile Football Ladder.
Some of the club members have gone on to play Amateur, Junior and even Semi-Professional football with the most successful being Gary McGowan who is currently at Huntly Football Club having been at one point on the books of Inverness Caledonian Thistle, and Vicki Farquhar at Aberdeen Ladies who recently played in the Scottish Cup Final.
More recently, the club have had several successes in local Tournaments and Galas, most notably in June 2006 when the club returned home from the New Deer FC tournament with both the Under 12’s and Under 10’s trophies.
The club run their own Tournament, the I.D.F.C Sevens, on the middle Saturday in June annually at Insch Pleasure Park.
The emphasis at the club is on fun, enjoyment and participation and the club are always on the lookout for new recruits from players to coaches for these players, with training taking place every Saturday morning during the school term. The Club also welcomes offers of, or approaches for ideas for, sponsorship opportunity.
