IDFC were denied in the final seconds of the third period by a battling Westdyke side after dominating for long spells in this windy encounter. Westdyke started with the wind, but it was IDFC who took the lead through a Terry Taylor rocket which the goalkeeper could only watch as it disappeared into the top right hand corner. There was lots of good passing football on show and Westdyke equalised after sloppy defending by IDFC to finish the first period 1-1. The second period saw IDFC with the strong wind advantage, but although they played a lot of good flowing football, missed the goal threat of Josh Duncan, who had elected to go in goal. The second period ended with the game still evenly poised at 1-1.In the third period Terry Taylor then went on a solo run which ended in a left foot finish through the keepers legs to give IDFC the slender lead they were looking for. Robert Ward(back in his favoured right midfield berth) played out of his skin to give the Westdyke boys no time on the ball and IDFC created chance after chance but couldn't add to their tally. Terry had 2 great free kicks saved - one by the goalkeeper and one by the head of an unsuspecting Westdyke defender on the line but still no third goal came. Josh Duncan made a great save diving to his left to parry a fierce shot and in the dying seconds IDFC conceded a second goal after a melee in the goalmouth. Well done to all the boys for producing such an entertaining match and we look forward to more of the same next game - GT
